Learning what we have about Dennard Wilson’s defensive philosophy and seeing the personnel moves that this team has made to damn near completely revamp the defensive roster has led me to believe this unit will focus on three aspects of the game: interior pressure, blitzing, and man coverage on the outside. I could be completely wrong - I mean, it’s not like I have the defensive playbook or anything. But, it seems like from a personnel standpoint, that’s what this defense is built to do - rush the opposing quarterback’s process, cloud his judgment, and hold coverage long enough for the pass rush (wherever it may come from) to get home. Not only is that philosophy effective in stifling offenses, but it can also naturally lead to mistakes from quarterbacks when their judgment is a little off and they feel pressured to make a play. That’s how turnovers are created.
