The Tennessee Titans have done quite well to totally flip the wide receiving corps on its head this offseason. For good reason, they needed to. All due respect to the names that have come and gone in recent seasons, but there was very little to get excited about when thinking about the future of this group. Father Time came to collect on guys like DeAndre Hopkins and Tyler Boyd. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine has been a career overachiever, and good for that guy! I’m not trying to take cheapshots at people on this fine Friday morning, but was he ever going to be an elite receiver in the NFL? Probably not.
I’m of the opinion that Calvin Ridley had a far better year than he’s given credit for on the surface. He isn’t exactly a spring chicken in NFL terms, but he’s the best they have right now, and he’s still good enough to get excited about. But, heading into the offseason, it was him…and who else exactly? Treylon Burks? Jha’Quan Jackson? Colton Dowell? Yeah - this group was due for an overhaul. That’s exactly what the Titans did. They went out and signed Van Jefferson and Tyler Lockett to add some veteran presence to the room. They drafted the wide receiver we’re here to talk about this morning, Chimere Dike, and Elic Ayomanor. And, they added a few more as undrafted free agents. At the time of this writing, the Titans have 13 receivers on the roster.
