Film Friday: Depth Pieces Showing Up

The Titans have a few depth pieces showing up on a consistent basis.

It ain’t the sexiest part of re-building a roster, but it’s an important part of the process. If you’re going to eventually become a Super Bowl contender, you need quality depth. We’ve seen that time and time again. While we’re not talking about a class of players that you want getting a ton of reps, it’s a class that fills a meaningful role regardless. And, we’re starting to see a few of those guys step up and take form in a depth role for the Tennessee Titans.

For this week’s Film Friday, I wanted to highlight a few of the plays made by these types of guys. Darrell Baker Jr. has played admirably and could be earning himself a longer look. Same for James Lynch. With the Quandre Diggs injury and the release of Jamal Adams, Mike Brown has had to step up at safety. He delivered a hard hitting performance against the Vikings. Lastly, the trade of DeAndre Hopkins and the Treylon Burks injury has led to more opportunities at wide receiver. While Nick Westbrook-Ikhine has stepped up the most, undrafted free agent rookie Bryce Oliver has flashed when his number has been called. We know about the foundational young pieces this team has in JC Latham, T’Vondre Sweat, and even Jarvis Brownlee Jr., but it speaks to this regime’s talent as evaluators that they’ve been able to find some of these guys off of scrap heaps and put ‘em to good use.
