This may come as a surprise to some of you, but I actually cannot read Ran Carthon’s mind. Likewise, I can’t read Brian Callahan’s mind. I don’t know how this regime views the state of this roster, what they’ve evaluated as their biggest need, and I certainly don’t know where they’re leaning with the 7th overall selection. But, as far as my assessment goes, this team has dire needs at left tackle, cornerback, and wide receiver. If Ran or Brian asked me, I’d tell them to “go get one of these left tackles.” The impact just solidifying that one spot along the line could be exponential. How much of Will Levis’ ability could this staff unlock if he wasn’t fighting for his life on every single play?
But, you guys already know this - you’re smart and I know that because you’ve subscribed to Stacking The Inbox. You don’t need me to break down exactly why the Titans need a left tackle. The important nugget for the sake of this piece is that I’m of the opinion that left tackle should be the pick at #7 unless the two top dogs from the class have already been selected. Those two top dogs at left tackle are clearly Notre Dame’s Joe Alt and Penn State’s Olu Fashanu.
