Alright, alright. I’ll bite. I didn’t have a topic in mind for this week, and I’ve been chewing on this one for quite some time. Our buddy BWill has been dropping elbows from the rafters on Amani Hooker on The Morning Glory Show all offseason. But then, when Mike said that Quandre Diggs would probably be the best safety on this team on Football & Other F Words, I thought, “is the simulation gaslighting me into an Amani Hooker film study?”
In all seriousness, it made me realize that it’s been a hot minute since I’ve truly checked in on Hooker and studied his game. I’ve thought he’s a fine player for some time now. Hell, he has to be considered among Jon Robinson’s best value picks! After the decline of Kevin Byard and the revolving door of safeties used in 2023, I kind of felt like Hooker got a pass by default. But, when smart people who know ball start questioning that status, it makes me want to dig into the tape to try and see what they see.
