One of the most fun aspects of every NFL Draft as a writer is scouting prospects and trying to identify those hidden gems….the diamonds in the rough, if you will…guys who might not be Day 1 or Day 2 picks, but sure as hell seem to have what it takes to make it in the NFL. Up next, we’re going to dig into the game of TCU RB Emani Bailey.
This entire running back class feels like “pick your hidden gem” if you ask me. In fact, if I may be so bold, even if I needed a running back, I don’t think I’d pick one on Day 1 or Day 2 in this year’s draft. The value is too good. Don’t get me wrong - I like Blake Corum, but I don’t think he’s so much better than this crop of Day 3/UDFA guys that I’d be beating the door down to take him with the draft capital it’ll take to get him. I’d much rather hang around and see if a Rasheen Ali, Kimani Vidal, Daijun Edwards, Michael Wiley, George Holani, or Blake Watson slips through the cracks. This is what brings me to TCU’s Emani Bailey. This guy is currently projected to go 210th by NFL Mock Draft Database. They have him as RB19 in this class, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him getting meaningful snaps somewhere in the NFL next season. To me, he’s the cream of this “hidden gem” crop.
