We arrive at my final article catching up everyone on my preseason analysis. Today may seem a little more angry or old man yells at clouds-ish than usual, but I just needed a cathartic release on a topic.
However, let’s talk the latest with the Titans on the news front.
Latest Titans News
First and foremost, what happened to Caleb Farley is very tragic. According to reports, he lost his father in the fire, and he also lost his mother to cancer. I cannot imagine what he is going through.
Second, as first reported by Paul Kuharsky, the injury Kyle Philips suffered in the preseason game against the Vikings is of the MCL variety. The injury puts him in the range of 6 weeks of recovery. The Titans will be heading to New Orleans in Week 1 at the start of four weeks on his recovery timeline.
There has been talk about him making the 53-man roster and being put on IR. Putting him on IR at the beginning of his third week of recovery would make him out at least four games, per the NFL's IR rules. Right now, we do not know the severity of it, but I think he avoids IR. It would be odd to have him miss the first four when maybe missing only 1-3 is necessary for his recovery.
Finally, the Titans brought back kicking journeyman Michael Badgley. A kicker has two jobs, kick the ball through the uprights and down the field on kick-offs. Badgley was horrendous on his first day yesterday. He continued to shrug it off like no big deal. It's just practice, y'all!
It was odd the Titans would just cut both Trey Wolff and Caleb Shudak, but they must've seen just enough to know they wouldn't be competitive with Badgley. The Titans have overestimated Badgley in that regard and already regret signing him.
This brings me to my next preseason topic.
