There is a totally different flow to today’s in-depth profile of Thomas Brown. Like I said with Aaron Glenn on Thursday, I write out a general outline and let the candidate dictate how the article is written. I really like Brown as a coach. Last year I dubbed him the “Next Big Thing”, and I don’t think the Panthers experience needs to be as valued or weighted as people think. Let’s dive into it.
The Vision
As a reminder, here is the vision for the Titans:
As the NFL continues to innovate and evolve, I believe the teams best positioned for sustained success will be those who empower an aligned and collaborative team across all football functions. Last year, we began a shift in our approach to football leadership and made several changes to our personnel to advance that plan. As I continued to assess the state of our team, I arrived at the conclusion that the team would also benefit from the fresh approach and perspective of a new coaching staff.
I believe the Tennessee Titans can and will be a premier National Football League franchise. It's what our fans deserve, and there will be hard decisions along the way.
Add in last year’s statement where she talks about being Super Bowl Champions here’s the vision:
Innovative
Evolved
Sustained Success
Aligned and Collaborative
Premier NFL Franchise
Super Bowl Champions
A Quick History of Thomas Brown
Thomas Brown is a former Gorgia Bulldog running back and played there from 2004-2007. From there he was drafted by the Falcons in the 2008 draft going 6.172 overall. He only spent time in the league for three years, but he immediately went into coaching.
Except, it was as a strength and conditioning coach in 2011. From there he went over to Chattanooga and became their running backs coach and he hopped around from Marshall to Wisconsin before coming back to his alma mater in 2015 to join Mark Richt’s staff in what would be their final year. He was running backs coach for Georgia and the following year went Richt to Miami, Brown followed.
Brown became Miami’s offensive coordinator and running backs coach from 2016-2018. From there he went to South Carolina to be their running backs coach, shortly thereafter he accepted Sean McVay’s pleas and joined his staff in Los Angeles with the 2020 Rams.
He was promoted in 2021 to Assistant HC and in 2022 went from RB coach to TE coach with the same Assistant HC title. He then was given a shot by Frank reich to be offensive coordinator with the Panthers. In what would be a weird and toxic year for that franchise.
