Mike Kafka completed his virtual interview with the Tennessee Titans on Friday evening. I don’t know if a dark cloud constantly follows Kafka around, but his facial expressions sure does make me feel like Sam and Dean Winchester could pop up at any minute to take him out. Like, if he was at a rave, no doubt Blade wouldn’t think twice. This man looks evil all day, every day. Like if Mark Strong was cast as a James Bond Villain.
The Vision
As the NFL continues to innovate and evolve, I believe the teams best positioned for sustained success will be those who empower an aligned and collaborative team across all football functions. Last year, we began a shift in our approach to football leadership and made several changes to our personnel to advance that plan. As I continued to assess the state of our team, I arrived at the conclusion that the team would also benefit from the fresh approach and perspective of a new coaching staff.
I believe the Tennessee Titans can and will be a premier National Football League franchise. It's what our fans deserve, and there will be hard decisions along the way.
Add in last year’s statement where she talks about being Super Bowl Champions here’s the vision:
Innovative
Evolved
Sustained Success
Aligned and Collaborative
Premier NFL Franchise
Super Bowl Champions
A Quick History of Mike Kafka
A 4th-round draft pick by the Andy Reid Eagles in 2010, Kafka went on to have a five-year NFL career where he threw for 107 yards, 0 TDs, and 2 INTs with a 47.7 passer rating. After retiring in 2016 from his legendary NFL career, he went into coaching becoming a graduate assistant at his alma mater Northwestern.
After one year with Northwestern, Andy Reid calls him up again to join his coaching ranks. He went from Offensive Quality Control Coach in 2017 to quarterbacks coach in 2018, where he stayed all the way up until he was hired by Brian Daboll to be Giants OC in 2022. In that time with the Chiefs, they also added the title of passing game coordinator.
So, that’s four years as a position coach and two years as a play-calling offensive coordinator for the New York Giants.
