An article on a Saturday? Have I gone completely bonkers? Why, yes, I have. The reason for this is because the coaching cycle is going to move fast. The Titans are up to nine head coaching candidates, and i would think we hear of at least one more soon. That assumption is assuming that they’re interested in Dolphins OC Frank Smith.

Either way, they interviewed Brian Callahan yesterday in the worst weather you could ask for, and today they’re interviewing Antonio Pierce, so I figured why not him? Why not now? So, on this special Saturday edition, here is the head coaching profile on Antonio Pierce.

The Vision

As a reminder, here is the vision for the Titans:

As the NFL continues to innovate and evolve, I believe the teams best positioned for sustained success will be those who empower an aligned and collaborative team across all football functions. Last year, we began a shift in our approach to football leadership and made several changes to our personnel to advance that plan. As I continued to assess the state of our team, I arrived at the conclusion that the team would also benefit from the fresh approach and perspective of a new coaching staff.

I believe the Tennessee Titans can and will be a premier National Football League franchise. It's what our fans deserve, and there will be hard decisions along the way.

Add in last year’s statement where she talks about being Super Bowl Champions here’s the vision:

  • Innovative

  • Evolved

  • Sustained Success

  • Aligned and Collaborative

  • Premier NFL Franchise

  • Super Bowl Champions

A Quick History of Antonio Pierce

He’s a former NFL linebacker (sound familiar?), that coached in college (sound familiar?), and then became a linebackers coach for an NFL team (sound familiar?).

He played under Tom Coughlin, Marty Schottenheimer, Steve Spurrier, and Joe Gibbs. He retired after the 2009 season and didn’t get into couching until he coach for Long Beach Poly HS in 2014, where he stayed before joining Herm Edwards staff at Arizona State in 2018.

At Arizona State he worked his way up from Linebackers coach to co-defensive coordinator to associate head coach/defensive coordinator. Interestingly enough, and maybe this says a lot about why players love him, he was the recruiting coordinator the entire time there.

In 2022, he was brought on to the Las Vegas Raiders’ staff, and was eventually chosen by ownership to become interim head coach when the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels. The Raiders went 5-4 during his time there.
