The 2023 Titans Lose Effortlessly...Again
The Tennessee Titans have been frustrating week to week, but one thing their last two losses have in common: lack of effort.

Effortlessly is defined as showing or requiring little or no effort. Lack of effort has made the Titans' last two losses some of the most maddening of the Vrabel era. The entire team showed no effort in Cleveland, while the Browns required very little to win a 27-3 bloodbath. On Sunday, the Titans, who still are the more talented team, failed to put together four quarters of football, and the Colts were able to move effortlessly down the field against a lifeless Titans defense.
Let's talk about the game.
Kristian Fulton is a Liability
I have been a Kristian Fulton supporter for his entire Titans career. However, I knew the writing was on the wall once Mike Vrabel went on his infamous "8 to 4" rant after dropping to 7-8 in 2022.
Vrabel even later on named guys like Fulton and David Long, Jr, not necessarily as guys who are 8 to 4, but at least as players who needed to change their habits. Another negative was thrown out there by the coach. Fulton then went on to do yoga in Florida, seemingly pissing off the coaching staff, who thought he should be with the team and their trainers.
Fulton got the do your job treatment following the Browns game from Vrabel in a presser. He has done his job exactly once, versus the Bengals. Other than that, he has yet to show effort or common sense on the field. Every week, we hear about players keeping their eyes in the backfield when they should be focused on covering their man. Fulton has yet to listen, understand, and/or care about this.
He is in year four of his NFL career, and it is wild to think that it is a contract year for a player with NFL-level talent because he is losing money weekly. He has put together an excellent 2021 campaign and has not consistently shown up since that year. He isn't even the best defender in the Fulton family. That title belongs to his dad and mom, who are out here defending every negative X about him. They're allowing zero yards of separation on X's while their son is out here, letting Josh Downs get 4.99 yards in that same stat.
My favorite X from his parents is this one:
This is fantastic because it was sent at 4:40 pm, shortly after their very own son took almost zero accountability for his horrendous play in the Colts game. Because Substack doesn't insert X's appropriately, click here to see the video from Paul Kuharsky on X.
The 2023 Fulton career arc has become something other than what everyone thought based on his off-season work in practices. He was a man on fire over the summer when he landed in Nashville for camp. Turns out that was fool's gold. Almost everyone bought into it. I even said on Football & Other F Words that I would be most wrong about Fulton. Turns out, I was wrong about being wrong.
