It’s a Monday and the Titans are about to begin mandatory minicamp. The big questions is if Kevin Byard continues his silent hold out or will he actually show up. However, the biggest question mark on this team is still the Titans offense.
As the Tennessee Titans gear up for the 2023 NFL season, fans are filled with anxiety and hesitation about this team’s ability to put points on the board. With a roster lacking depth and an over reliance on a run game and second-year players I can fully understand why everyone would be down on the team.
I recently put out my way too early fantasy rankings and people were shocked I had certain members of this team ranked so high. If Tannehill had played all 17 games he would’ve been 1 pt shy of QB12 status and that was with a horrendous roster around him.
I already talked about the realistic expectations for this offensive line in a previous in-depth article. Here is what I predicted:
2023 Offensive Line Total: 17 Sacks | 160 Pressures
2022 Offensive Line Total: 27 Sacks | 170 Pressures
That projection alone would change the dynamic of the offense and what it is and isn’t able to do in 2023. That has been my stance all offseason. Yes, its a projection, a projection back up with facts, but a projection nonetheless. However, it puts them in roughly the top of the bottom half of the league in terms of offensive line production.
That changes everything. So, I thought why not take a look at a few key players on the Titans offense and try to use some rationale for what their production looks like.
In this article, we will project the stats for key offensive players, taking into account their previous performance, offseason developments, and potential growth. Let's dive into the future.
Passing Yards
Ryan Tannehill, for better or for worse, is the leader of the Titans' offense. Despite what his playoff performance says, he has solidified himself as a reliable and efficient quarterback during the regular season. Don’t let that fool you into thinking that the playoffs don’t matter, they do, and he has to earn trust back. It shouldn’t just be given to him. However, that is not the point of the article.
The point of this is to take a look at the regular season and Tannehill was having a really good season despite his surrounding circumstances. Now, he heads into 2023 and it seems that he is more comfortable than ever in his role as leader of this team.
The Titans have yet to have a 4,000 yard passer since coming to Tennessee. There is something that sprung to my mind recently and no one has made this connection yet. Now, this isn’t a guarantee that this team can finally have a 4,000 yard passer or anything, just something that hasn’t been talked about or thought of among the local media.
