It feels like it has been ages and while I do have an in-depth preview article coming this Thursday, I wanted to finish up a major project. Last week I debuted the new stat: Age Curve for Superstar Running Backs.

This week I turned my attention to the kicker position. I wanted to gain some insight into how age plays a role into a kicker’s ability, but also show some unique stats that allow you to compare the Titans newly signed veteran, Nick Folk, to the other kickers that were available at one point and time this offseason.

What’s the Gist?

After I prove the link below, you can click on it to be taken to a dashboard. This dashboard will have four pages to it:

Each of the first three pages will have a subset of stats for you to click on:

   1. Extra Point %

   3. Total Points

   4. Points Per Game

   5. Avg. Kick Distance

   6. Expected Points Added

   1. Kickoff Attempts

   2. Touchback %

   3. Inside The Twenty %

   4. In The Endzone %

   5. Average Kick Distance

   6. Net Return Yards

3. Clutch Kicker Data

   1. Individual Stats:

      1. Total Field Goal Attempts

      2. Average Field Goal %

      3. Average Kick Distance

      4. Average Win Probability Added

   2. Stats to See Correlation:

      1. Field Goal % vs Kick Distance

      2. Field Goal % vs Win Probability Added

      3. Kick Distance vs Win Probability Added

      4. Field Goal Attempts vs Win Probability Added

On the page marked “Individual Kicker Data” that is where you will see a list of stats and kickers to choose. I chose kickers that were either made available release/cut or trade during this offseason. Those kickers are:

• Ryan Succop

• Will Lutz

You can click two or all, to compare their stats from 2005-2022, where applicable. Their stats will cover three categories of kicking, which are laid out above:
