Next week I will make my final mock draft predictions, but this week I wanted to not only give you my seven round mock draft, with a trade, but also what the experts are saying.
Mock draft and experts doesn’t really sound like it goes together, but TheHuddleReport.com does a great job of keeping mock draft experts honest. They have last year’s best listed out, and the mock draft experts with the best rolling five-year average. We will be looking at the top-3 in both categories today.
But first, let’s go grab our franchise quarterback.
My 7 Round Mock Draft
TRADE: Round 1 | Pick 1.03: Anthony Richardson, QB, Florida
Cardinals Get: 1.11, 2024 1st, 2024 2nd, 2025 1st
Titans Get: 1.03
Titans Biggest Needs: QB, OT, OG, C, WR, TE, EDGE, CB, RB, ILB
Best Players on the Board: C.J. Stroud
I have been a massive proponent that future 1st round picks for this team don’t hold as much value to them as draft picks in this current draft. Now, saying that, I do think you’re paying a premium to get up to 3 at this point, and the 2024 2nd is what pushes it over the top.
In reality, I get the sneaky feeling that all it’d take is 2 future firsts, but I wanted to keep it realistic. Most people in this situation are going to see Young go first overall and Levis go second, and think it’s trade up for C.J. Stroud, but I think Richardson is the #2 QB on the Titans Big Board.
He’s everything you want from a team building perspective. Young, athletic, high mental processing, great work ethic and he has improvisation skills. I am sticking to my guns here about Stroud. Some are going to call me crazy, and that is okay, I just think that Stroud can’t make the plays out of structure this team likely needs.
Also, Richardson and Henry standing next to each other is gonna look so freaking cool.
Round 2 | Pick 41: Steve Avila, G, TCU
Titans Biggest Needs: QB, OT, OG, C, WR, TE, EDGE, CB, RB, ILB
Best Players on the Board: Jack Campbell, Sam LaPorta, Tyrique Stevenson, Luke Musgrave
This would be the perfect time for a trade back, and I almost decided to go with one, however, I am taking a Guard with a first round pedigree in Steve Avila and plugging him on the offensive line to protect the new Franchise QB.
Avila is a one-man wrecking crew that is gonna destroy everyone in his path. He is a Senior Bowl Guy of mine and Stoney’s and I think he provides the right value at the right time for the Titans.
Round 3 | Pick 72: Cedric Tillman, WR, Tennessee
Titans Biggest Needs: QB, OT, OG, C, WR, TE, EDGE, CB, RB, ILB
Best Players on the Board: Rashee Rice, A.T. Perry, Jonathan Mingo, Chandler Zavala, Devon Achane, Jammie Robinson, Luke Schoonmaker, Tucker Kraft
This has become the toughest pick in these Titans mock drafts. The value isn’t there among the players listed for a trade back, but it’s also not that great for trying to snag high quality TE or WR.
If you go WR you’re left with some sketchy tight end prospects and vice versa. However, being that I know the tendencies of the PFF Mock Draft Machine, I know which way I am going, and that’s wide receiver.
I am selecting Cedric Tillman, yes I am selecting him over Rashee Rice and Jonathan Mingo, but I think Tillman gives you the best of everything.
He’s athletic, he’s physical, and he plays fast. I think Tillman is an absolute steal in the third round, and the Titans having both Burks and Tillman means they have enough speed, athleticism, and YAC ability to make some big plays.
Especially with Richardson throwing them the ball.
Round 5 | Pick 147: Chase Brown, RB, Illinois
Titans Biggest Needs: QB, OT, OG, C, WR, TE, EDGE, CB, RB, ILB
Best Players on the Board: Olusegun Oluwatimi, Davis Allen, Zack Kuntz
It' doesn’t seem like running back this high is good value, but unless I am missing something, I am not sure how the Titans avoid addressing running back in this draft.
We know, according to Justin Melo of BroadwaySportsMedia.com, that the Titans did bring in a running back for a top-30 visit. It wasn’t Bijan Robinson, and I am not saying its Chase Brown, but that has to lead one to think they know they need to grab a running back.
Brown is super interesting because he was considered one of the best running backs in the draft, not named Bijan Robinson, and now he is seemingly fallen to the fifth round, and down big boards.
This could be a draft day steal, and I have a feeling teams will be much higher on Chase Brown than analysts currently are. He has over 3,000 all-purpose yards the last two seasons with 18 total touchdowns as well. Not only that he has both an elite 42% CDR and elite 9.79 RAS.
And he is going in the fifth round? Yeah okay.
Round 6 | Pick 186: Payne Durham, TE, Ole Miss
Titans Biggest Needs: OT, OG, C, WR, TE, EDGE, CB, RB, ILB
Best Players on the Board: Jake Andrews, Josh While, Cam Jones
My guy. Do I really need to talk more about Durham? Okay, I will. he’s the perfect complement to go alongside Chig Okonkwo, and he can eventually replace Trevon Wesco and be the Jack-of-All-Trades tight end the Titans have been needing.
He’s amazing. He’s violent, fast, and freaking has top-3 hands in this tight end class, in my opinion. If he is miraculously still there in the 6th round, you take him.
Round 7 | Pick 230: Jake Moody, K, Michigan
Titans Biggest Needs: OT, OG, C, WR, TE, EDGE, CB, RB, ILB
Best Players on the Board: Darrell Luter, Jr., Cameron Mitchell, Alex Austin, Terrell Smith
The Titans end their kicker woes and select the best kicker in the draft. A rare college kicker who never missed an extra point in his entire career, the Titans use a 7th round pick to secure them the rights to make sure he is in their camp.
He was 7/8 in the “money” zone of 40-49, and perfect from 30-39. His long of 59 is also extremely great. At this point the Titans need to quick messing around with this position and go straight to the best player in the draft at this position.
Best UDFAs
I didn’t get another wide receiver but that is okay as players like Grant DuBose, DeMario Douglas, Xavier Smith, etc are still out there.
