The NFL Combine is over, and we are just a few days away from the NFL opening up its league tampering window for Free Agents. It is the perfect time to provide you my first Mock Draft.
I am a Mock Draft lover. I do at least two or three a day just because I get bored, but I also keep up with the most accurate mock drafters., and who they’re picking. This year, for the Titans specifically, it has been pretty boring in the first round. Spoiler Alert: I will be boring in the first round too.
What you will get with my mock drafts are the Titans picks through all 7 rounds, with analysis, and with some stats and tidbits about the player. I will then provide my own 1st round 31-team mock draft, and we will keep up with it, and you guys can hold me accountable!
Today’s mock is going to be centered around sticking and picking. I will be using NFLMockDraftDatabase.com and also using their consensus data information.
Round 1 | Pick 11: Paris Johnson, OT, Ohio State
Titans Biggest Needs: OT, OG, C, WR, TE, EDGE, CB, RB, ILB
Best Players on the Board: Quentin Johnston, Peter Skoronski, Jordan Addison, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Will Levis
I know that this is a boring pick, but it’s also the most obvious pick to make in this situation. While Quentin Johnston and JSN fit the wide receiver needs, if you don’t have time to throw them the ball, what good are they. The Titans need a stalwart left tackle.
I’ve seen plenty of people make the case that the Titans should draft Peter Skoronski and let him sink or swim at tackle before moving him to guard. Sounds like a waste of time to me. I don’t get this idea that Skoronski, who tested well, deserves this chance at tackle.
We have literal decades of data showing that a player of his measurements will not succeed at tackle. On top of that, his ceiling would be capped even if he was able to play the spot. For me, specifically with the Titans recent history, draft the plug and play starter at left tackle that has shown he can do it.
Why overthink it and try to get cute? Also, #NeverLevis.
Signature Stat: 2021-2022 seasons has 910 pass blocking snaps. Allowed 2 sacks, 1 QB hit, and 25 QB Hurries.
Round 2 | Pick 41: Darnell Washington, TE, Georgia
Titans Biggest Needs: OT, OG, C, WR, TE, EDGE, CB, RB, ILB
Best Players on the Board: Dalton Kincaid, John Michael Schmitz, Jack Campbell, Clark Phillips, Mazi Smith, BJ Ojulari
