Guys to Watch: Titans at Dolphins, 9/30/24
The Titans head down to Miami for a date with the reeling Dolphins on Monday Night Football
I don’t want to come across as dramatic on this fine Friday morning, folks. But, I have to admit that we’re entering “must win” territory for the Tennessee Titans if there’s to be any hope of this team making the slightest echo of noise in 2024. And, even without Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback, this Miami Dolphins offense freaks me out a bit.
The big plays in the passing game immediately come to mind when you think about these Dolphins - Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle streaking through the open field. Mike McDaniel does some really cool stuff with motion and alignment to scheme those opportunities open. They’ll utilize pump fakes from the quarterback, motion heading in different directions, the orbit motion, the cheetah motion, the whole damn bag to get you guessing and freezing up in space only to take a deep shot to Hill. He stretches the formations horizontally and has guys lining out wide to create space. Then, he’ll call quick throws to the speedsters to get them in 1:1 situations in the open field. He’s not afraid to take a shot on 1st & 10 every once in awhile either - defenses should be prepared for just about anything taking on McDaniel.
