Guys to Watch: Titans at Chargers, 11/10/24
Previewing the Chargers-Titans matchup in LA and what the Titans need to do to pull off the upset.
The playoff push begins this weekend! Nah, I’m kidding…well…kind of. If you listened to Football & Other F Words this week, you know where I stand on that conversation. It’s the last stand of the Tennessee Titans. If anything’s going to happen, it has to start now.
Now, with that optimism out of the way, I can say that I still don’t think anything’s going to happen this season. But, I will be on the edge of my seat on Sunday looking to see if the Titans can stack some wins and keep the positive momentum going. I’ve been pounding the table the last few weeks that this team is not as bad as its record would indicate. There were glimpses of good football in the massive losses to the Bills and Lions, but we finally got the proof of concept against the Patriots. Can they head to Los Angeles and keep it going against the Chargers?
Some of you might be looking at the Chargers’ record. You might be looking at the defensive numbers, and you might be thinking Jim Harbaugh has this team playing some smash mouth football right now! You might think those things, in conjunction with the spread opening at Chargers -8.5, mean that the Titans will get blown out in this one. While I acknowledge that the Chargers play a safe and efficient style that absolutely will make the Titans pay if they keep making dumb mistakes, I just don’t think this one’s going to be a blowout.
