For the second year in a row, I am submitting a mock draft to TheHuddleReport.com, and it will be graded among the most notable of NFL draft analysts. Last year, I was in the company of Josh Norris and others, but this year I am look to leave their butts in the dust and move up the ranks.
Another name for this draft: The I Hate Everything About this Mock Draft Mock Draft
1. Caleb Williams - Chicago Bears
Duh.
2. Drake Maye - Washington Commanders
Drake Maye has been QB2 forever. I am not falling for this Jayden Daniels hype. It’s time for Lincoln Riley to learn from his mistakes and draft a guy who can run his offense and not get injured. Maye can absolutely run this system and he has the athleticism to still make plays for his legs. If they draft Daniels, they’ll just be the same ole Commanders making the same ole mistakes.
3. JJ McCarthy - New England Patriots
All reports have said that the Kraft Family is not-so secretly running the show in Boston. With them meddling, I think they’re going to try and duplicate the Tom Brady formula and draft the Michigan QB who is all about leadership.
4. Marvin Harrison, Jr. - Arizona Cardinals
They’re publicly declaring their unending support for Kyler Murray. They kind of have to because of his contract. As such, they’re going to give him the best wide receiver available. Make sure he has no excuses as they truly try and figure out if he can be the guy that he was drafted to be.
5. Joe Alt - Los Angeles Chargers
I don’t think anyone on the top-5 is going to get what they want from teams looking to move up. Vikings have ammo, but teams are going to want more than just the two first round picks. I think Harbaugh stays, picks the blue chip tackle prospect, sticks him on the right side, and is freaking happy.
6. TRADE: Jayden Daniels - Minnesota Vikings
I think the Giants pull off the trade. Not because they believe in Daniel Jones, but because they don’t believe in Jayden Daniels. They’re an offense in need of talent, and what better way to get that than to grab two first round picks in this draft. The Vikings have a 5th-year option with Daniels and will bring him along slowly behind Sam Darnold, unless he flat out wows them.
7. Malik Nabers - Tennessee Titans
With all four quarterbacks off the board, the only trade partner would be Chicago Bears, but they don’t have the ammo to move up and they’re okay with taking Rome Odunze to go outside opposite DJ Moore while Keenan Allen plays the slot. The Titans get their WR1 on their big board and immediately insert him the starting line-up, and just go three wide receiver sets at the highest clip in the league.
8. Dallas Turner - Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons, with their new defensive head coach, takes the best defensive player on the board. It makes just too much sense for them to juice up a defense with Turner’s talents.
9. Rome Odunze - Chicago Bears
They got their guy by being patient. Caleb Williams is now stepping into a situation where he has Odunze, DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Cole Kmet, Gerald Everett and D’Andre Swift. He is set.
10. Brock Bowers - New York Jets
The Jets get one of the most explosive talents in the entire draft. An elite prospect who will be able create mismatches for opposing defenses that Aaron Rodgers can easily take advantage of. Jets are loaded on offense.
11. Quinyon Mitchell - New York Giants
The Giants grab the best cornerback in the draft that can start opposite last year’s pick Deonte Banks.
12. Laiatu Latu - Denver Broncos
The team that needs everything, grabs the best pass rusher, in their mind, off the board.
13. Michael Penix, Jr - Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders have been linked to MPJ since the combine and it hasn’t died down. Sometimes patience is rewarded.
14. TRADE: Terrion Arnold - Philadelphia Eagles
The Saints trade back, the Eagles jump the Colts. They jump a cornerback needy team to get one of the best corners in this class in Terrion Arnold.
15. TRADE: Olu Fashanu - Washington Commanders
With Arnold off the board, the Commanders move up to protect their newly acquired franchise quarterback with drafting a franchise left tackle that is an elite pass protector.
16. Troy Fautanu - Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks keep it local and draft Fautanu with the intentions of putting him at left guard over recently signed Laken Tomlinson.
17. Cooper DeJean - Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars grab a guy they will never figure out how to use properly, because that is what they do.
18. Byron Murphy - Cincinnati Bengals
They lost DJ Reeder, and the Bengals are going to make a move in the trenches with Byron Murphy. They’re absolutely ecstatic he fell to them.
19. Jared Verse - Los Angeles Rams
Jared Verse isn’t Aaron Donald, but he does provide some juice and flexibility to mitigate the losses.
20. Taliese Fuaga - Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers, nor I, can believe that Fuaga has dropped this far. They love his versatility and think he is a plug and play offensive lineman.
21. Brian Thomas, Jr. - Miami Dolphins
The smart move would be Graham Barton, but I think the shiny toy is just too good to pass up for ole Mike McDaniel
22. Adonai Mitchell - New Orleans Saints
Saints grab a wide receiver to pair with Chris Olave. Rashid Shaheed is still their deep threat.
23. JC Latham - New York Giants
The Giants grab a powerful run blocking right tackle to go opposite of Andrew Thomas. Allowing Daniel Jones not to have to worry about passing.
24. Graham Barton - Dallas Cowboys
The utility man that can do it all. Plug him in wherever they need him.
25. Braden Fiske - Green Bay Packers
The first big surprise of the night belongs to the Packers.
26. Johnny (JerZhan) Newton - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Logan Hall was a fialed experiement and they need someone to put next to Vita Vea and wreck shop.
27. Nate Wiggins - Arizona Cardinals
Cardinals need help stopping the pass. Grab one of the better corners in this draft.
28. Xavier Worthy - Buffalo Bills
The Bills hope that Worthy turns out to be the better pro wide receiver from Texas. (I almost gave them Keon Coleman to keep them in Hell)
29. Detroit Lions - Kool-Aid McKinstry
Aaron Glenn and Kool-Aid are a match made in cornerback Heaven.
30. Baltimore Ravens - Amarius Mims
While the Ravens do need a tackle because they traded theirs away, I really did this just because I hate Mike.
31. Roger Rosengarten - San Francisco 49ers
I am buying into all the rumors. Screw it.
32. Xavier Legette - Kansas City Chiefs
A final surprise to end the draft. The Chiefs need a do it all kind of wide receiver. A guy that is big, strong, fast, and reliable. He is the perfect lump of clay for Mahomes/Reid to develop.
