The Tennessee Titans bolstered their safety depth with signing Jamal Adams, but where could they be buyers next in Free Agency.

By the time you’re reading this — and I really, really hope you are — it’ll officially be 5 days until the Titans report for training camp.
Surprisingly the wait hasn’t felt too long and honestly the start of camp has crept up on me personally. Granted I’ve been knees deep into College Football 25 and have raised my own blood pressure because I can’t play quarterback worth a damn.
Still though, camp has really crept up on the calendar.
I know most of you are excited since the start of camp signifies the unofficial start of the new season. Hopefully you can find some joy in players running around in practice jerseys and shorts, at least until they’re allowed to start wearing pads.
Now, as for why you’re here, let’s talk last minute roster possibilities and if the Titans can make any additions that simply make sense.
The Titans still have some spots where they could stand to add some more bodies. You wouldn’t think that the way they’ve aggressively filled the roster with talent over the off-season.
But as we said previously, overhauling this roster and turning it into a competitive one from top to bottom in a couple months, was going to be extremely difficult at best.
So it’s not surprising that this team has a few more holes left to fill.
There’s still time to do so before camp though. So, let’s go over these spots, see if the Titans can realistically fill them, and if so, who could fill them.
Safety
This is by far the biggest roster hole remaining for the Titans.
They addressed it somewhat by bringing in Jamal Adams on a cheap one-year deal. But he’s not extra body this team needs to heavily rely on right now.
He’s missed too much time due to injury in recent seasons and his role on the field needs to be relegated to 3rd safety/small box inside linebacker duties.
For that reason, the Titans need to find another option soon. Luckily enough there’s still some options out there, but the best one remaining is none other than former Broncos safety Justin Simmons.
He’s been a popular name to link with the Titans over the off-season and that hasn’t stopped much either.
If they can’t bring Simmons in, there’s still some other options out there like Quandre Diggs and Micah Hyde. Either way, there needs to be a starting caliber body added soon.
EDGE
This is the other spot the Titans could stand to add another body at.
Right now, the starting edge rushers would be Harold Landry and Arden Key, but behind those 2 are younger players that are either average, unproven, or heavily inexperienced.
Rashad Weaver is okay, Caleb Murphy is unproven, and the two notable names behind those are rookies Thomas Rush and Jaylen Harrell.
That’s why another veteran would be beneficial, especially if the Titans are sold on keeping only one of the two rookie edge rushers they’ve added.
Some names available include Carl Lawson and Emmanuel Ogbah. Both have their questions, but both can play as those big 3-4 OLB’s that the Titans want.
iOL
I only put this down because there’s some scenarios that could force the Titans to add in this area.
The right guard spot looks a little shaky right now, with Saahdiq Charles and Daniel Brunskill both set to battle for the right guard spot.
If one of those two gets hurt, another body will need to be added.
Also, if one of the starting right tackle candidates falters and the Titans need a talent upgrade for depth reasons, they’ll need another body.
It’s more so a concern about depth and such, but these spots are extremely important. And if you’ve seen how poorly this iOL has looked over the last few years, you’d agree.
Receiver
This spot is here for age reasons, as the Titans’ top 3 receivers are all going to be 30 years old by the time this season ends.
This calls for an injection of youth into the receiver group, more so as insurance since we don’t know what the future holds for Deandre Hopkins and his time as a Titan beyond 2024, as well as Tyler Boyd’s presumed upcoming one year stay in Tennessee as well.
If the Hopkins doesn’t return and Boyd’s one year with the Titans ends without a renewal as expected, then this team is going to need playmakers and a good amount of them.
It’s why my eyebrows were raised a little when Brandon Aiyuk requested a trade from the 49ers. The Titans wouldn’t make this deal right now probably.
But they need to keep an eye on one such situation and even more moving forward, since the receiver spot looks a little uncertain past 2024.
Normally this is the spot where I’d say let’s just give Treylon Burks a chance, but well, I can’t do that right now can I?
