It’s around 12:43 at night right now.
Usually, I’d be in a melatonin induced slumber right now, getting the amount of rest I need so I don't feel like zombie the next day.
But that obviously isn’t the case right now.
You see, I usually have a couple ideas in my head for what what I want to write about. I don’t settle on one until late at night — before my deadline — because my brain racks itself with all the possibilities that exist with the topics I come up with.
Tonight is no different, except I don’t have a clear idea as to what I want to put to paper.
Granted, this is a time when topic ideas become a bit bland and we head towards clickbait season, a season I truly, truly, truly despise.
However, I won’t do that. I won’t sit here and drag you in to read something that isn’t close to what I’m personally feeling. So instead of that, I’m going to give you a little fun article today.
OTA’s have kicked off recently and just like everyone else, I’m excited about the words being spoken by the new staff and the most recent additions to the roster.
So I thought I’d talk about that a little. Not in some classic column about what this player or coach said, but in a form of superlatives.
I hope you enjoy, let’s get into it.
Most likely to break a world record
This might jump off as random, but walk with me for a second.
We’ve gotten used to JC Latham manhandling Bill Callahan’s infamous sled — or Bertha — during his time on the field.
As we know, Latham struggled with it at first, but has gradually shown how to move that mammoth of a sled, while also showcasing the leverage, power, and proper technique it takes to move such a sled that simulates defensive lineman pre-snap.
For that, we’ll give Latham the “Most Likely to Break a World Record” superlative. And for what record he’ll break?
Lets go with a feat of strength, shot put for example.
Most Likely to host a talk show
For this one, we’ll go with DeAndre Hopkins.
Hopkins is mostly known for his talents on the field, but he has a weird mystique off the field that leaves you wandering about the character of such a decorated receiver.
Not in a bad way, but in a curious way.
Just a few weeks ago, he was enjoying the town and indulging some bourbon, then proceeded to walk out with Morgan Wallen at a concert of his at Nissan Stadium.
Fast forward to a few days ago and it was his German — while discussing the state of Treylon Burks — that caught the eye of some.
It wasn’t anything significant, but it kind of left you wondering about the guy and the interesting things that can come out of his mouth.
Most Changed
We won’t go with a specific person here, but a whole group of people instead.
Why?
Because based on what we heard from OTA’s, it seems like the Titans will be hellbent on throwing the ball more this upcoming season.
Of course, this is all preliminary and subject to change, but based on the history of Callahan and the team’s need to figure out Levis’ future, you can assume the previously mentioned theory to be true.
If this holds true, it’ll be a very interesting offense to watch, mostly for the shock value though since we’re all used to this organization branding itself on physicality and punishment at the LOS.
September can’t come around soon enough, huh?
Most mysterious
We’re in the home stretch here and we’re starting it off with focus towards a specific position group, not a person.
The starting safety spot opposite Amani Hooker has been vacant for a while now, with the Titans not opting to address the spot during the first round of free agency and choosing not to significantly address it during the draft.
This signaled their interest in bringing in another guy to take over the spot, like a Justin Simmons or Marcus Maye. But that hasn’t happened yet, and quite frankly, we don’t know when it will.
I’m sure the Titans have a plan for that spot, but with it being so vacant right now, it’s hard to judge because there’s just not a lot of answers to the question mark there.
But there’s still options out there if the Titans want to bring in an outside face, so we’ll just have to wait and see.
Most likely to become a wildlife photographer
This was mostly an effort to fit a Treylon Burks discussion in.
He’s an avid wildlife guy so this fits…kind of.
Anyways, talk surrounding Burks has heated up in recent weeks, fully due to the addition of Tyler Boyd.
That left Burks theoretically frozen out of a top three receiver role, with him now being relegated to backup duties as an X receiver.
Trade rumors flew a bit as well, but those were quickly extinguished and rightfully so. The Titans need better depth at the spot and what better way to address that by pushing your former first round receiver, one full of talent still, down the depth chart?
His teammates have come out to support him, especially DeAndre Hopkins. But it just remains to be seen if Burks will be able to reward people’s patience and praise, by turning it into results.
Honestly, if he’s able to stay healthy, there’s a chance he could. This offense looks to be on the right direction in terms of structure, and with the increased passing looks, there’s a chance.
But this feels like one of his last ones, and if it doesn’t go well, who knows what happens with him.
