Forgive me, but I can’t remember where we said this, but I know at one point throughout this draft season, whether it was in an article or drunk at the bar recording our conversation, Zach and I told you guys that there are two voices you should really pay attention to at this time of year. Mock drafts are innocent fun, and I won’t hate on anybody who enjoys them, but if you’re putting stock into them to gain valuable insight into what the NFL is thinking, there are only two real mock drafters to pay attention to: Daniel Jeremiah and Dane Brugler. Keep this in mind as I play devil’s advocate for a moment.
In Jeremiah’s latest top 50, he has Oregon State tackle Taliese Fuaga listed as OT1. That may sound crazy to some. After all, we’ve been debating Joe Alt vs. Olu Fashanu for the better part of a year now (at least if you’re a draft nut year round). But, when DJ says it, that carries some weight. I’d heard whispers from far corners of the internet that some scouts had Fuaga listed as the best offensive lineman in this draft. But, when it pops up on the screen from DJ, it hits different. So, how does something like this happen so late in the game?
