The last week of February in Indianapolis always comes with revelations. The NFL Combine serves as a whirlwind week of rumors, opinions, and the occasional football drill or two. For the Tennessee Titans, however, having the number one overall pick makes it hard to not feel like the prettiest princess at the harvest moon ball. (Yes, that's a Mel Gibson Robots reference).
The first overall pick this year comes with no clear top prospect ahead of the others from a consensus standpoint. Ward and Sanders remain the top two options as passers, yet the Heisman Travis Hunter and top edge Abdul Carter have cases of their own.
For many teams at the top of the draft, some dominos needed to fall this week for us to see the picture clearer. Matthew Stafford and Derek Carr, two of the more stable options potentially to hit the market, are staying with their respective teams.
That still leaves the Titans, Giants, Raiders, Jets, and Steelers in search of a quarterback with the options not being the greatest, pending your opinion on Sam Darnold.
Add in Abdul Carter’s foot injury concerns, plus the viability of Hunter’s two way play, and one thing remains clear: the Tennessee Titans have not made up their minds with the first overall pick.
There is still much for Mike Borgonzi, Chad Brinker, and their front office to discuss on the direction of the franchise. With free agency still looming and the Titans still in phase one of their draft board, a clearer picture should arise quickly, when the top four head to Nashville for their 30 visits.
As for trying to figure where the Titans stand now, here are some of the nuggets I heard to recap the 2025 Combine.
