A lot of people, including myself, have talked about what we need to see from Will Levis in year two. It has come down to a bunch of discussions revolving around what success looks like and can you truly know what you have in Levis after two years of NFL play. All legitimate topics and there have been various points of view, but there is one view we haven’t truly dove into yet, and what does the data say?
I am going to do several types of articles revolving around players and what the data constitutes as a successful season. Like always, I am going to be transparent about the process, but also, take you through why I have chosen the comparable players that I have. It is my top priority to make sure that I left no stone unturned in these articles and to make sure we all walk away with what should be proper expectations for what growth in a franchise quarterback looks like from year one to year two.
I think it’s fine on the surface to say: “Well, he needs to improve accuracy” or “He needs to speed up his processing”, but what does that actually look like on paper? How does that translate to something fans can point to and say: “Okay, he met the floor here, here, and here, and this is a great sign he could be the guy.” Or even the opposite. We all need to walk away after year two and be able to point to tangible evidence and say: “He’s on the right path.”
