This should be the last piece I write for a while that surrounds entirely around what Bill Callahan can bring to this offense. We’ve talked about the effect he will have since he was hired ad nauseum. It makes sense to do that because of how terrible and lackluster the offensive line has been and how downright atrocious the coaching was that led to fielding one of the worst units we have ever seen in over a two-year span.
Callahan the goose that lays the golden eggs and his presence affects everyone on this offense. He has “hand-picked” pretty much the entire revamped unit and has put holdovers into the spots they will succeed the best. However, there are three players that will benefit the most from his presence: JC Latham, Peter Skoronski, and Saahdiq Charles, who seems to be the overwhelming favorite for the right guard spot. Right now, we have no real tangible favorite for the right tackle spot, which is a topic unto itself. Yet, we all have high hopes for this offensive line and Callahan is placing a great deal of his faith in a rookie, a second-year leap candidate, and an athletic, powerful guard that has had a rocky start to his career.
