Yesterday, I suggested we add Kevin Stefanski’s name to the list of coaches that just seem to have the Titans’ number along with Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. The first response was “scratch out Stefanski and replace it with Jim Schwartz.” Maybe I need to remind y’all that Stefanski’s Browns also beat the Titans 41-35 in 2020 after being up 38-7 in that contest. Schwartz wasn’t on that staff, pals! Stefanski is now 2-0 against Mike Vrabel defenses, scoring 68 points in those two games. Folks are right to commend Schwartz for yesterday’s showing - don’t get me wrong. But, I don’t think it’s exactly difficult to game plan for this Titans offense right now, especially when you have the horses to take advantage of a bad offensive line and receivers that can’t separate down the field.
No no - this was a complete ass-whooping from a coaching standpoint on both defense and offense. Stefanski deserves a tip of the cap for that. Specifically speaking, it was his rhythm for the game in play-calling and his ability to field alignments that exacerbated areas of weakness on the Titans defense. And, yeah…while we’re tipping our caps to the guy, let’s give him credit for making the smart decision of hiring Schwartz in the first place!
