For the last few years I have brought forward a new tool for Tennessee Titans fans to use. It went from the “Two-Tone Blue Dudes” tool to now the “Titans Traits” or “Titans Fit Ratings”, It’s a unique data tool that pretty much has me doing everything for you.

This year I dove even deeper to the analytics. After all, the needs of the Titans are many every position has one. So, I been taking notes on what translates what doesn’t for every position and also, figuring out better methods of allocating the point totals. Always looking for ways to improve.

If you’re new to the site and have no clue what I am talking about that is quite alright. I will dive into the generalities here, and then talk about each position in greater detail for paying members.

When I initially set out to do this, I was trying to find who actual fits the “Titans Way”. It’s no secret that teams have certain profiles and measurable that prospects need to hit for them to be considered that teams “guy”. But we never really get close enough to know what that may actually look like. So, for the Titans I have been trying my hand at figuring out what is their ideal prospect by three measurables: Physical Profile, Athletic Profile, and On-The-Field Metric.

This is to identify prospects that fit the rule, identify those that may be excveptions and rule out others completely. This is not to say the Titans will 100% draft one of these guys or that these guys will be 100% successful, this is just a data point to build out a profile of the player.

Case in point we know 6’ is considered a pretty strict minimum for a cornerback’s height. There are exceptions, but we know that to be the case. You can’t be short and slow. You can’t be short and unproductive. But you can be short, rpoductive, and somewhat fast, and be considered.

This really helps more in the later rounds. It’s kind of been a very spot on indicator:

  1. It helped me identify Jaylen Harrell as a guy the Titans would be interested in (3rd highest rated EDGE player in last year’s class)

  2. It confirmed my thoughts from tape study on Jarvis Brownlee Jr.

  3. It let us know that jha’Quan Jackson was an exception they made that ended up poorly.

  4. It let me know James Williams needs a move from Safety

It’s just a good tool to kind of see what they value and who meets that. Every position but Quarterback will have:

Physical Traits

  • Height

  • Weight

  • Arm Size

  • Hand Size

  • Wingspan

Athletic Traits (excluded for QBs)

  • RAS

  • 40 yard dash

  • 20 yard split

  • 10 yard split

  • Vertical Jump

  • Broad Jump

  • 3-Cone

  • Shuttle

Every position also has On-The-Field Metrics but they differ from each one, but those are the main stays. Each category and each sub-category all got assigned values based on some fancy algorithms, this is the first time I didn’t place my own number on them.

This is no replacement for tape.

Let’s dive into it.

Quarterback
