Here we go, folks - five more evals for the ever-growing 2025 Draft Notebook. Let’s dig in!
QB Garrett Nussmeier, LSU
Big Nuss has started to generate some serious buzz in the upcoming quarterback class. I know Zach and I have become Nuss-curious, and Dane Brugler has him listed as QB1 in this class. With his name floating around incessantly, I had to get at least one game under my belt. So, I decided to pop on that South Carolina game to get started on my eval. That was a game that had a bit of the good and the bad - LSU struggled early in that game, but had to rally back to steal the win. I figured it would be a good gauge of his mettle.
To say I was unimpressed would be an understatement. Sure, I saw the flashes of what people cite when they say they like Nussmeier. He throws with pretty decent touch. He goes through his progressions with decent pocket feel, understanding when that ball has to come out to avoid a sack, and actually getting rid of it. He throws with anticipation over the middle and down the field. And, perhaps my favorite trait of his in this game was how good he was on spot throws to the corner fades and out routes down the field.
